This is Apple’s Universal Dock for iPod/iPhone (MB125B/G). Thanks to the universal adapters this dock can be used on any of those devices. A couple of adapters are provided in the box.
For my new iPhone 4 I had to buy some new adapters. Unfortunately they’re only sold in a pack of 3. Many people would be happier if they were sold separately or if at least one of them would be provided in black for those alarm clock radios and sound stations/speakers.
Apple officially released the final iOS 4. It’s still called iPhone OS 4 in the SDK, but both names refer to the same code/piece of software. The iOS 4 GM (Golden Master) was made available to developers 2 weeks ago and should be exactly the same code as yesterday’s official release. I’ve been testing iOS 4 on my iPhone 3G for 2 weeks now and reported some of my experiences in my iOS 4 review on iPhone 3G.

The attentive observer may have noticed a slight change in the layout during this weekend. Yes, you’re right, I changed the theme of my WordPress. The new layout of io101 has been refreshed and also optimized for iPhone and iPod users. The last theme was the closest match to what I wanted, but it I never had the time for all the adjustments I once planned. So this is a new attempt, this time based on the iBlog 3.0 theme and the iWPhone plugin and theme. Both are free and can be found on wordpress.org. Apple just released the GM (Golden Master) candidate for developers. I downloaded and tested the new iOS 4 yesterday on my iPhone 3G 16GB. I skipped the betas as it’s currently my only phone and some of the betas were reported to render the iPhone pretty unstable.
This final release of the new iPhone OS 4 (now called iOS 4 as its range of target devices has been extended to iPhone, iPod and iPad) works fine and stable on my old iPhone 3G. I still can’t record videos and have to pass the multitasking feature due to lack of CPU power.

Not every provider has approved tethering with your iPhone. Some countries even have a netlock installed on their devices and Apple has locked up access to most parts of the iPhone OS for any user.
There are a few jailbreak solutions out there and I had an early try with QuickPWN which didn’t work out as expected. After that I didn’t even bother trying out yellowsn0w or any of the other colored snow cracks. Continue reading “iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreak: Net, SIM, Tethering lock – unlock it all” »
Have tried the iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5 for a couple of days now and am not too impressed. Tethering, Copy/Paste and A2DP were the main features I wanted to use early. Copy and Paste work. Continue reading “Review: iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5 firmware – ups and downs” »

12 Mac apps for $39 instead of $602 available for 14 days only
Yippie! Just got my MacHeist 3 Bundle for $39. Actually I only paid $31 thanks to my bundle discounts I got during my mission unlocks. And I can make use of most of the 12 apps.
Some of the apps will get unlocked as soon as some goals are reached. 25% of all sales will go to charity. There are 10 charity organizations which will get a share of your money or you can pick one from the list that will get the whole of your share.
The MacHeist 3 Bundle reveal show was hosted by Chris Pirillo, Veronica Belmont and Lisa Bettany. I watched it live and it was fun but also awfully long – I was tired and was already on my way to bed when iCal reminded me of the show… Continue reading “New MacHeist 3 Bundle 2009 – 12 cool Mac apps for $39 only” »
Ever wondered how to link to an application from the Apple iTunes App Store? You probably could find a site with the link to the desired application on it and just copy the URL from the there. I prefer the easy and regular way by using the iTunes Music Store (iTMS) Link Maker on Apple’s website. It’s a straight forward web form that generates the correct HTML code for the link to any(?) item available in the iTunes Store. Read how to create a link to Apple iTunes App Store apps…
