Just got some hot deals for MacBook Pro on MacMall I couldn’t keep back. The new MBP has just been released (Thunderbolt I/O, FaceTime HD, Quad Core CPU on 15″/17″, new GPU) but the “old” ones are still in stock for a few days.

If your budget is limited (who’s isn’t?) and you still need/want a MBP then take a closer look at these offers. Especially the 2nd 13″ / 2.66GHz model is a great deal if you can pass on FaceTime HD and Thunderbold port. Both CPU & GPU are still very fast and won’t restrain productivity or fun for a while.

A Pro on sale, shouldn’t be missed! Continue reading “Up to $349 Off on Closeout MacBook Pros” »

Have you been notified about the new App Store for Mac apps? Yes, it finally has come online but requires you to update to OS X v10.6.6.

If you’re still running on the 10.5.6 beta (e.g. 10h542 delta) update from the Apple Dev Center then you won’t see the latest update to 10.6.6. You can manually check Software Update from the menu bar but still will be missing this update as the reversioned OS X beta does not qualify for it.

Available First on HP ePrint Printers

CUPERTINO, California—September 15, 2010—Apple® today announced that it is releasing a beta version of its AirPrint wireless printing for iPad™, iPhone® and iPod touch® to members of Apple’s iOS developer program today, and that AirPrint will be included in the free iOS 4.2 software update in November. AirPrint automatically finds printers on local networks and can print text, photos and graphics to them wirelessly over Wi-Fi without the need to install drivers or download software. Just updated my iPhone 3G to iOS 4.1 beta 2. The beta 1 already did a good job in improving the UI responsiveness over iOS 4.0 but beta 2 acts like a turbo! No more delays and snappy interface – almost feels like an iPhone 3GS. In my previous post I mentioned the clogged iPhone 3G after unlock. Now this issue has been completely remedied. Even apps seem to start faster. Wow! Continue reading “iOS 4.1 beta 2 released – much improved performance” »

Apple officially released the final iOS 4. It’s still called iPhone OS 4 in the SDK, but both names refer to the same code/piece of software. The iOS 4 GM (Golden Master) was made available to developers 2 weeks ago and should be exactly the same code as yesterday’s official release. I’ve been testing iOS 4 on my iPhone 3G for 2 weeks now and reported some of my experiences in my iOS 4 review on iPhone 3G.

With yesterday’s update of Yammer for iPhone to version 3.0 it resumed working. In my previous review article about the new iOS 4 Yammer was one of the few apps not compatible with iOS 4. The app started correctly and showed the account list but didn’t let you go further. Selecting an account either crashed the application or just didn’t do anything. Apple just released the GM (Golden Master) candidate for developers. I downloaded and tested the new iOS 4 yesterday on my iPhone 3G 16GB. I skipped the betas as it’s currently my only phone and some of the betas were reported to render the iPhone pretty unstable.

This final release of the new iPhone OS 4 (now called iOS 4 as its range of target devices has been extended to iPhone, iPod and iPad) works fine and stable on my old iPhone 3G. I still can’t record videos and have to pass the multitasking feature due to lack of CPU power.
