Ever wondered how to link to an application from the Apple iTunes App Store? You probably could find a site with the link to the desired application on it and just copy the URL from the there. I prefer the easy and regular way by using the iTunes Music Store (iTMS) Link Maker on Apple’s website.   It’s a straight forward web form that generates the correct HTML code for the link to any(?) item available in the iTunes Store.

  1. Open the iTMS Link Maker web page in your browser of choice.
  2. Select the country of your iTunes Store and select ‘Application’ from Media Type.
  3. Enter the app’s name or any search term into the search box and click the Search button.
  4. Select the app from the list of search result.
  5. Test the link then copy the HTML code into your web page.

The code snippet from the example above for the Keynote Remote app creates an iTunes link button when pasted into on your web page: Keynote Remote You are free to only copy the URL part of the snippet and integrate it into text links like this: Get Keynote Remote in the App Store. With Apple’s iTunes Link Maker you can build genuine links to apps from the iTunes App Store. Of course you can use it to link to music and videos, too.
