Just updated my iPhone 3G to iOS 4.1 beta 2. The beta 1 already did a good job in improving the UI responsiveness over iOS 4.0 but beta 2 acts like a turbo! No more delays and snappy interface – almost feels like an iPhone 3GS. In my previous post I mentioned the clogged iPhone 3G after unlock. Now this issue has been completely remedied. Even apps seem to start faster. Wow!

It’s been a week now since I installed the new iOS 4.1 beta to my iPhone 3G. Hesitated at first, but then I gave it a shot and am very pleased. It feels much faster on the UI and crashes less often than the “stable” iOS 4.0. Many apps still close intermittently or won’t even start but overall the 4.1 beta seems to be less demanding on resources like memory or background processes.

I’m getting annoyed with all those problems I encounter since the upgrade to iOS 4 and iTunes 9.2. At first I was very pleased with the new look and features. But now after a couple of weeks more problems show up. They’re not fatal but all those small issues pile up to a Windows-like hurdling. I just want to use my Mac and iPhone to be productive! Every now and then a new error stops me and then I have to google around to find and try another fix. Meanwhile I try to keep my hope that Apple will release an update to iOS 4 and/or iTunes 9.2 soon.

WordPress usually shows your most recent/sticky posts on the front page aka home page. The page is displayed when opening the root of your blog or by clicking the home button.
Missing Front Page
After creating a new page in WP and deactivating it I totally lost the front page of the blog. A click on the home button redirected (HTTP 301) me to the newly created and now missing page. Putting the page into the trash resulted in a 404 and when restored from trash it redirected to that page. But it never showed the regular recent posts front page again.

Apple officially released the final iOS 4. It’s still called iPhone OS 4 in the SDK, but both names refer to the same code/piece of software. The iOS 4 GM (Golden Master) was made available to developers 2 weeks ago and should be exactly the same code as yesterday’s official release. I’ve been testing iOS 4 on my iPhone 3G for 2 weeks now and reported some of my experiences in my iOS 4 review on iPhone 3G.

The attentive observer may have noticed a slight change in the layout during this weekend. Yes, you’re right, I changed the theme of my WordPress. The new layout of io101 has been refreshed and also optimized for iPhone and iPod users. The last theme was the closest match to what I wanted, but it I never had the time for all the adjustments I once planned. So this is a new attempt, this time based on the iBlog 3.0 theme and the iWPhone plugin and theme. Both are free and can be found on wordpress.org.
